On Friday February 5, 2016 approximately 6:38 P.M. 25-year old Aaren O’Connor was shot while sitting in her car on the 2000 block of west 21st Street in Chicago. Aaren died from her wound. Interim Superintendent John J. Escalante presented awards today to outstanding officers at the Superintendent’s Monthly Department Commendation Ceremony. The event serves to recognize officers who have distinguished themselves and the Chicago Police Department by their exemplary bravery and praiseworthy deeds
CHICAGO – Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Interim Chicago Police Superintendent John Escalante commemorated the graduation of 100 sergeants and 63 police recruits today in a ceremony at Navy Pier. An additional 22 police officers were promoted at today’s ceremony, including two chiefs and five deputy chiefs.
This alert gives notice to commercial establishments in the 4th (South Chicago) and 22nd District (Morgan Park) of two reported drug store robberies. In each incident, the offender entered the location and approached the counter pretending to make a purchase. As the cashier opened the register, the offender produced a canister of pepper spray and discharged it in the face of the employee. The offender proceeded to remove money from the register and flee the location on foot.
On Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at approximately 2:05 p.m., a 72-year-old female was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in the 6400 block of South Kedzie Avenue. As a result of the crash, the victim sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene of the crash without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the victim.
