There have been several overnight burglaries to retail establishments in the 016th District. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have gained access to the businesses by shattering the front glass window or by prying the front entrance open. Offender(s) have also gained entry to the premises through the roof.

Incident times and locations:

  • 5300 block of N. Milwaukee on March 14, 2016 at 4:15 am
  • 5500 block of N. Milwaukee on March 17-18,2016 between 11:00 pm – 6:00 am
  • 4000 block of N. Milwaukee on March 17-18, 2016 between 10:30 pm – 6:30 am
  • 5300 block of N. Milwaukee on March 18, 2016 at 3:44 am
  • 5500 block of W. Devon on March 24, 2016 at 5:05 am

About the offender:

In 5300 block of N. Milwaukee, 5500 N. Milwaukee and 4000 N. Milwaukee, the offender is described as a male black, wearing dark clothing, hoody under jacket, knit cap and gym shoes.

This alert gives notice to the citizens in the 008th District (Chicago Lawn) of robbery incidents which have occurred during the month of March. In these incidents, the offender(s) approach the victim and demand cell phones and money. Incident times and locations are listed below:

  • 2400 Block of W. 63rd Street on March 01, 2016 at approximately 7:46 A.M.
  • 6300 Block of S. Maplewood on March 05, 2016 at approximately 05:45 A.M.
  • 6400 Block of S. Artesian on March 06, 2016 at approximately 4:10 P.M.
  • 6300 Block of S. Artesian on March 18, 2016 at approximately 3:40 P.M.

About the Offenders:

(1 to 3) Male/Blacks, 19-27 years of age, 5’06” to 6’00”, 150 to 200 lbs

One offender is described as having dreadlocks and a tattoo on his neck

Incident times and locations:
• 3700 Block of W. 56th Place on 03 March 2016 at approximately 9:00 P.M.
• 3800 Block of W. 56th Street on 04 March 2016 at approximately 6:00 P.M.
• 5400 Block of S. Harding on 14 March 2016 at approximately 1:45 P.M.
• 3900 Block of W. 59th Street on 15 March 2016 at approximately 1:00 P.M.
• 3700 Block of W. 56th Place on 16 March 2016 at approximately 10:39 A.M.

Offender description:
• Male Hispanic; 5’05” to 5’07”; 175 to 185 lbs.; black hair

This alert gives notice to residents of the 4th District (South Chicago) of two recent robberies involving similarly described offenders. In each incident, the victims were approached and robbed by three to six juvenile offenders. A firearm was displayed in one incident and implied in the other. For More Information Click Here

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Interim Superintendent John Escalante today announced that more than 14,200 individuals recently applied to join the Chicago Police Department, and 71 percent of those who applied are minority applicants. The share of minority applicants is up 13 percent since the previous CPD recruiting campaign in 2013. The latest numbers are driven in part by a recruitment campaign employed by the City of Chicago over the past three months to ensure the Police Department better reflects the makeup of the communities it serves
