This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th District (South Chicago) of two armed robberies which have occurred in the area extending from Dobson Avenue east to Greenwood Avenue, between 91st and 92nd Street. In each incident, the victims were seated in their vehicles when the offenders approached, produced a chrome or silver plated firearm, and robbed the victims of their valuables.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th District (South Chicago) of two reported armed robberies involving similarly described offenders which occurred along 83rd Street. In each instance, the victim was approached by multiple armed offenders and robbed.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th District (South Chicago) an increase in reported residential burglaries. During the month of August, six residential burglaries were reported in the area extending from East End Ave and Constance between 76th and 79th Street. In each of these incidents, the offenders gained access to the residence via a side or rear window.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th District (South Chicago) of seven, potentially related commercial burglaries which have been reported this year. The incidents have primarily occurred at retail establishments along Ewing Avenue between 94th and 106th Street. The burglaries were first reported in January with the most recent having occurred on 18 August. In each incident, the offenders made forced entry into the locations by shattering either the windows or doors. Once inside, currency was removed from the registers and change jars.

An offender was arrested in connection to the death of a 13-month-old child on July 11, 2015. Officers observed Watkins in a vehicle fitting the description of a wanted offender’s vehicle from a fatal shooting that occurred on the 7700 block of S. Kingston Ave. at approx. 1:45 pm on the above date. Watkins then fled in the vehicle and struck a 13-month-old male, who was in a stroller on the sidewalk, in the 6300 block of S. The Chicago Police Department’s Animal Crimes Team, executed a dog fighting related search warrant on Juan Zamora’s residence on June 4, 2015 at approximately 11:45 a.m. Officers recovered 10 pit bull dogs that were living in deplorable conditions. The animals were turned over to Animal Care and Control for treatment. Zamora, 49 was not on scene during the search warrant and turned himself in to CPD on June 8, 2015. Zamora was charged accordingly.
