Robbery

002nd District (Wentworth)

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 002nd District (Wentworth) of robbery

related incidents which occurred during the month of November. In these incidents,

the offenders approached the victims on the sidewalk, produced a handgun and then

demanded property from the victims, prior to fleeing the area. These incidents have

occurred in the geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

300 Block of E. Garfield Blvd. on November 27, 2016 at 6:40 pm.

5600 Block of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on November 27, 2016 at 6:50 pm.

About the Offenders:

2-6 Male blacks, 25 years of age, 5’08” – 6’00″, 180 – 200 lbs, dark complexion. One

offender was described as having dreadlocks.

What you can do:

• Always be aware of your surroundings

• Report suspicious activity immediately

• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm

• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,

etc…)

• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police

• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information

• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

Officers responded to a call of battery in progress on November 21, 2016 at 9:10 p.m. ,in the 300 Block of S. Michigan Ave. Officers observed three offenders battering a male victim, 57 years old. The officers intervened and learned the three offenders had stolen the victim’s book bag and then stabbed the victim with a cutting instrument. The victim sustained four puncture wounds and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious but stable condition. The offenders were positively identified and placed into custody.

Area Central Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a Strong-Arm Robbery incident which occurred on October 26, 2016 at approximately 12:00 p.m. on the CTA Redline train at Clybourn.  As the train was in motion, this female black approached the victim and tried to take her cell phone by force.  When this female offender was unsuccessful in taking the victims cell phone, she then pulled the victim by the hair causing the victim to fall from her seat in an attempt to drag the victim from the train.  The offender then fled at the Clybourn stop with two other female blacks and one female white.

On November 20, 2016 at 4:01 A.M. a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at 800 N. LaSalle. The 23 year old man was struck by the below described vehicle.

White in color mid-sized SUV (2016 Jeep Compass) bearing Indiana license plate BU3440. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on LaSalle from Chicago Ave.

002nd District (Wentworth)

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 002nd District (Wentworth) of robbery related

incidents which have occurred during the month of November. In these incidents,

two to three offenders exited a vehicle (described as either a white van or a gray

SUV, possibly a Jeep), surrounded the victims and forcibly removed property, before

fleeing area. Incident times and locations are listed below:

5300 Block of S. Ingleside Ave. on November 16, 2016 @ approximately 7:05

P.M.

5400 Block of S. Drexel Ave. on November 16, 2016 @ approximately 7:05

P.M.

About the Offenders:

Offender(s) is described as:

2-3 Male, black, 16-30 years of age. One offender is described as being 6’05”-6’06”,

170-180 lbs. with a medium brown complexion.

What you can do:

Always be aware of your surroundings

Report suspicious activity immediately

If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm

Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,

etc…)

Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 008

th District (Chicago Lawn) of

burglary incidents which have occurred during the month of

November. In these

incidents, offender(s) gained entry into the residence through a rear door/ window

and removed property from therein. These incidents occurred in the geographical

locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

5100 Block of S. Keeler on 04 November 2016 at approximately 10:15 A.M.

5200 Block of S. Kostner on 05 November 2016 at approximately 09:20 A.M.

4800 Block of S. Kolin on 05 November 2016 at approximately 10:20 P.M.

5100 Block of S. Tripp on 09 November 2016 at approximately 09:30 P.M.

5000 Block of S. Keeler on 10 November 2016 at approximately 06:50 A.M.

4900 Block of S. Knox on 11 November 2016 at approximately 2:30 P.M.

4800 Block of S. Kostner on 13 November 2016 at approximately 11:15 P.M.

What you can do:

Keep the perimeter of your property well lit

Report suspicious activity immediately

Keep doors and windows secured

Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks

If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for

investigating detectives.

Make an agreement with your neighbors to watch each other’s homes for suspicious

activity.

If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately
