In one incident the offender then kicked in an interior door and cut through drywall to access the first floor. The security video captured the offender’s movement throughout the store. The offender(s) took a guitar, laptop computer, misc. tools, U.S.C., watches and a ring. Incident times and locations are listed below:
South Side Man Charged in 2015 Murder
South Side Man Charged with Homicide, Arrington,Donald
Arrington was arrested after he was identified as the person who bludgeoned and killed a 50-year-old man. This incident occurred in the 3900 block of N. Spaulding Ave. on August 31, 2015; at approximately 11:00 a.m. Arrington fatally struck the victim with a blunt object during an altercation and set the victim ablaze before fleeing the scene. Personal property belonging to the victim was taken along with his vehicle which was later recovered in a Northern suburb. During the investigation, information was gathered identifying Arrington as the wanted offender. Arrington was apprehended and placed into custody in the 1500 block of E. 72nd Pl. on January 27, 2016, and was charged accordingly.
ROADSIDE SAFETY CHECK – SHAKESPEARE (14th) DISTRICT
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Shakespeare (14th) District this weekend. The Roadside Safety Check will be conducted at 3101 W. North Ave and will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29th, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30th, 2016.

CPD Business Alert- Commercial Robberies 17/20th Districts
There have been three recent Commercial Robberies in the 17th and 20th Districts. In these cases, two offenders or three offenders entered the business, displayed a blue steel handgun and demanded money from the register. The offenders moved the victims to the rear of the store or into a storage area and took money, alcohol, cigarettes and other property.

Willie Clay was arrested after he was involved in a traffic accident in the 2700 Block of West 57th St on January 19, 2016, at 10:07 a.m. The vehicle Clay was driving was reported stolen during a vehicular hijacking which was reported on January 8, 2016, at 5:04 a.m., and was taken from the 1900 North block of Whipple St. Officers discovered a replica of a semi-automatic handgun inside the crashed vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, Clay was identified as the offender in several armed robberies on the City’s West Side and North Side. Clay was transported to Mt Sinai Hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained during the crash and was charged accordingly.
CPD BUSINESS ALERT- Commercial Robberies 17th District
There have been three recent Commercial Robberies in the 17th District. In these cases, one or two offenders entered the business, displayed a silver or blue steel handgun and demanded money from the register. In two cases, a single offender entered the store. In another case, two offenders entered the store.
CPD Community Alert- Garage Burglaries 16th District
This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage burglaries that have occurred in the month of January. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have entered garages by forcibly opening side doors or through unlocked doors.
CPD News Release: Chicago Police and Cook County Sheriff’s Office Announce Partnership to Combat Gang Violence
CHICAGO – Today, Chicago Police Department Interim Superintendent John J. Escalante and Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, announced a renewed partnership in targeting violence and gangs that pose a threat to the City of Chicago.
The efforts include gun and narcotics investigations, traffic stops, identifying and arresting individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. Beginning Wednesday, efforts will be taking place in the Harrison (11th) and Austin (15th) Districts, covering much of Chicago’s western neighborhoods most affected by gang violence. This partnership will continue sporadically through the end of the month.
