18 Jul 18 19th District Community Alert Residential Burglaries P18-N-184(CA)

This alert gives notice to residents in the 19th District (Town Hall) of burglary related incidents which have occurred during the month of July.  In these burglaries, the offender(s) entered the residences of the victims by force or through an unlocked door. These incidents all occurred on Beats 1911 and 1912.

On Tuesday, 17 July 2018, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a 4 year old female juvenile was in front of her house on the 4000 block of North Plainfield when she was approached by a white van containing three males, possible male White or male Hispanic, 20-30 yrs old.  The van stopped in the middle of the street and asked the victim “Hey, I’ve got candy for you.”  The victim did not engage in conversation and fled to the safety of her house.

17 Jul 18 - 3rd District- Community Alert- Attempt Child Luring (P18-1-214)

On July 16, 2018 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a 10 year-old female exited a school bus in the 7000 block of S. Rhodes Av., and observed an unknown male standing on the sidewalk.  As the female began to walk the unknown male followed and stated “Come here, I have candy.”  The female ran away as the male chased her for a short distance.  The female then arrived at her residence safely.

16 Jul 18 Major Accidents Community Alert, jb351256
On July 15, 2018 at about 10:00 p.m., a 64 year old male pedestrian was crossing the street near 5239 W. Fullerton Avenue. He was fatally struck by a speeding eastbound driver. The Ford Edge is white in color, and may have tinted windows surrounding. It fled east on Fullerton Avenue then north on Laramie Avenue. The driver’s side mirror housing was knocked off and the front driver’s side of this vehicle is likely to show damage from the crash. 15 Jul 18-17th District Robberies
This alert gives notice of recent Robberies that occurred within the boundaries of the 17th District (Albany Park) on Beat 1712. In all of these incidents, the offenders struck the victims with fists and took property.

15 Jul 18-South Side Man Charged with Shooting at Police Officers
Truitt was placed into custody on July 13th, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m. after he was positively identified by officers as the individual who fired a handgun in their direction shortly before his arrest, knowing them to be police officers and acting in their official capacity.  A weapon was recovered and further investigation revealed three active warrants. No further details are available at this time.
