This alert gives notice to residents in the 12th District of robbery related incidents that have occurred on Beats 1223 and 1225. In these incidents, two to three offenders approach the victim on the street and display a handgun. The offenders announce a robbery and take the victim’s personal property or vehicle. Incident times and locations are listed below:

  • 2300 block of W. Monroe on January 12, 2016 at approximately 7:00 A.M.
  • 200 block of S. Western on January 13, 2016 at approximately 1:00 P.M.
  • 2100 block of W. Maypole on January 15, 2016 at approximately 7:00 P.M.

About the offenders:

Two to three male blacks between 20-30 years of age, weighing between 150-190 lbs. armed with a handgun

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 12th District of burglary related incidents that have occurred in the 10 sector from December 28, 2015 through January 1, 2016.  In these incidents, unknown offender enters the premise by prying open a door or window and removes property from within. See incident locations listed below:

 

900 Block of North Richmond on December 28, 2015 at approximately 7:00P.M.

2100 Block of West Chicago on December 30, 2015 at approximately 2:00P.M.

2400 Block of West Chicago on January 1, 2016 at approximately 3:45A.M.

 

About the Offenders:

  • UNKNOWN

 

What you can do:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Make sure doors and windows are secure
  • Keep area well lit if possible
  • If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc…)
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 012th District of robbery related incidents that have occurred in the 12th District during the month of November.  In these incidents, two offenders approach the victim on the street and rob the victim of personal property by either knocking the victim down or implying he has a gun. Incident times and locations are listed below:

  • 600 block of North Ashland on Nov 03, 2015 at approximately 1:00 A.M.
  • 800 block of North Paulina on Nov 05, 2015 at approximately 6:00 P.M.
  • 2700 block of West Washington on Nov 05, 2015 at approximately 7:00 P.M.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.

Anthony Titus was arrested after he was identified as the man who sexually assaulted a 23 year old female on October 15, 2015 in the 2100 block of W. Madison St. at approximately 5:10 a.m. The victim was outside when she was attacked. The victim was taken to Rush Hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition. Titus was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.

Michael Santiago was arrested and charged after he knowingly stored a loaded firearm on top of a refrigerator with access to his minor children in their home. The incident occurred on October 17, 2015 in the 1000 block of North Francisco Avenue at approximately 9:05 p.m. Santiago’s six year-old son retrieved the revolver and accidentally shot his three year-old brother in the head. The victim was carried by a family member to Norwegian hospital and subsequently transported to Mt. Sinai hospital where he was pronounced.  Michael Santiago was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.
